Timber Fire Escape Repair at South Oxfordshire District Council, Wallingford

We were asked to attend an emergency same day response call out to look at the rear fire escape for South Oxfordshire District Council in Wallingford.

On initial inspection we found that the door was not closing and securing correctly. The bottom of the door was rotten and not sealing to the frame. Our solution was to remove the door and cut away the damaged area and replace with suitable timber as a temporary repair.

We refitted the door and checked the alignment with the frame and made sure the panic bar engaged.

Finally, we cleaned the door and frame, but recommended that the door to be replaced with a steel door with a new exit device.
