Following on from our ‘Preparing for Brexit’ we would like to update on the impact a year on for BH Doors.

Currently the UK is experiencing issues with sourcing stock, consumables and sundries for businesses to be able to provide products and services to their customers. Also, we have all personally experienced where something is not in stock or the price has increased.

During the last year we have experienced price increases of parts by up to 20% and still we are getting contacted by new and existing customers with concerns about availability, but not the level of service we provide.

As BH Doors are a service and repair company predominantly, our ethos is always to try and repair an existing door using our worldwide partner suppliers and manufacturers. We understand that if your door fails it impacts on you, your business and your customers.

We have found that spare parts are easier to locate and quicker to source meaning time to return your door to working order is kept to a minimum. This is why in particular we still have a supplier who we started using in 2009 as generally need parts the next day or need the ability to collect the same day for emergency repairs to keep people’s doors operational, safe and compliant. This has always been an important factor when selecting our suppliers as they need to understand our needs and the needs of our customers.

Everyday we are tested and have to find solutions

An example of a new customer with a failed door was looking for a price and availability of a replacement automatic sliding door operator. We decided to attend site free of charge to investigate the current problem with the existing door and found the control board had failed.

Whilst on site we contacted the supplier and could get a replacement sent directly from the manufacturer in Sweden overnight. We gave an onsite quotation to the customer which they authorised and returned the next day to repair the door, see further examples of our work here.

This is something we come across daily, when a door fails it is a problem and we need to attend site as quickly as possible which is why we offer a same day response fixed call out. That way we are able to repair the door in the time or look for solutions. If you have a problem with your door, then contact us here

The Future

Still within the door industry in the UK there are few truly manufactured components that are not reliant on importing raw materials or sub components in the assembly process or installation. Also, as an example, a German company imports component from China and then assembles them in Germany as part of their products for distribution around the world. The majority of components are manufactured in Europe, USA, China and the UK. We have seen that the supply chain and logistics are improving but still hit and miss with certain components.

We recommend that customers have their doors serviced at least twice a year to the specific requirements of the manufacturer using our specific service schedule of works which will reduce call outs and failures of your equipment and door systems, see our service page here

There have been new manufacturers offering new innovative products and retrofit components to convert existing operators. Also new suppliers are in the UK which means there is a better chance of sourcing parts.

BH Doors & Engineering continue to offer the level of service our customers require and if you require a second opinion, are looking for a cost for a service contract or have a problem with your door, then please contact us on 0808 1200911 or here
