Steel Security Gate Floor Closer Replacement at Pembroke College, Oxford

On our initial visit we found that the steel door was free swinging as the closer spindle had broken as the closer had failed leaking oil and allowing the gate to close violently. As this also forms part of the security barrier for persons entering the College, it is important that this gate is operational at all times and electrically locks after use.

This required removal of the gate to allow us to replace the parts, so we carried out a risk assessment and deployed our yellow men barriers to designate a safe working area. Due to the size and weight, we used trolley jacks and created a timber frame to allow the safe removal.

The leaking Geze floor spring was replaced with new, then rehung the gate. The closer needs to be set up to the size of the gate so that it closes under control and does not slam as above this area is an accommodation block. We then tested with the access control system and interface with the fire alarm system.

We are Enhanced DBS checked to allow us to also work in Schools, Colleges, Care Homes, Universities and Hospitals. If you have a problem with your steel doors or floor closers contacts on 0808 120 0911 or contact us here.
