Glass Door Lock Repair – Dogfish, Cambridge

Dogfish Clothing in Cambridge contacted us as the main entrance glass door into the shop had a seized lock which a locksmith had tried to repair but required us to remove the door to allow the installation of a new replacement.

Whenever we work, we always carry out a risk assessment and deploy our yellow men barriers to designate a safe working area for us and the general public. Where we deem that the risk is high, we would carry out any work at a more suitable time, such as when the building is closed. As this was a planned visit, we were able to close off the entrance to carry out the work safely.

When the door was removed, the locksmith replaced the lock and also serviced the top lock to ensure a smooth operation. We aligned with the frame, tested the locks and cleaned the glass doors to remove any hand prints.

Common issues and problems for glass doors which need repairing are:

  • Out of alignment causing glass to touch adjacent glass or frame
  • Door handles loose
  • Door not secured at the top
  • Cover plates loose or missing
  • Closing too fast
  • Difficult to lock and having to lift it up to close
  • Not closing or not opening fully
  • Catching on the floor causing damage
  • Access control or electronic lock not always engaging

We also offer service contract agreements which include preventative maintenance to give you piece of mind at the fraction of the cost of a major component failure to keep your business operational and compliant. Particularly we have a specific schedule of work we carry out to ensure that all of the patch fittings and clamps are at the correct force to grip the glass and stop it from moving and keep your doors in alignment. To back this up we carry the serviceable parts for glass doors from the leading manufacturers such as Dorma and Geze on our vans.

Cambridgeshire is one of the areas we cover including Oxfordshire, Suffolk, Essex and Peterborough, allowing us to provide the level of service our customers require should they also have a problem with their automatic, fire escapes, aluminium or glass doors.
