Geze Automatic Doors Repair, Coventry

Today we repaired the Geze automatic doors at the Sir John Laing building at the University of Coventry as there were issues with both doors causing them to stand open for a long-time causing ventilation and heating issues for the building.

Prior to us attending site, we had to provide our DBS, Health and Safety policy, insurances and risk assessment. It is important that all documents are available to reduce inconvenience and wasting time so that we can work as soon as possible we attend site.

Always when we work, we always carry out a risk assessment and deploy our yellow men barriers to designate a safe working area for us and the general public. Where we deem that the risk is high, we would carry out any work at a more suitable time, such as when the building is closed. As the students were not within the building, it was agreed to carry on working.

Inner SL20 sliding door was not moving correctly and upon further investigation the reason behind it was there was grease and dust on the track. After cleaning we also refixed the floor guide to allow the correct alignment of the door. All automatic doors do not require lubrication of rollers or tracks as they are designed to run clean. This is why this is carried out upon every service to ensure long term reliability and potential failure.

The outer 160 swing doors were not closing as the doors were binding when they came together closing which would cause them to reopen. This was due to a worn top centre and needed to be replaced. As we carry common spare parts, the door was removed and it was replaced correctly realigning it with the adjacent door. The safety sensors were cleaned, the pumps were inspected and the operation tested.

With both doors now fully operational, the building heating and ventilation systems worked correctly and the entrance lobby returned to its correct temperature.
