DDA Accessible Swing Door Installation At Oriel College Oxford

Following a DDA accessible audit by Oriel College at James Mellon Hall Oxford, there was requirement to automate the existing entrance door.

We always attend site and carry out survey to understand the requirements prior to quotation and installation.

BH doors want to ensure that the installation, fits the requirements, provides a solution, works operationally and above all safely.

This was part of a refurbishment to the building and the installation comprised of a Dorma ED100 swing operator with BEA 4Safe safety sensors. The door was activated and integrated with the access control system where a person presents their card when entering from the car park and the door will automatically unlock and open for them.

Then after a time, close and then relock automatically. To exit the building a touchless push button will achieve the same operation.

It is important that all installations of automatic doors have any risks designed out or any residual risks reduced to a safe level. Then the installation is subject to a risk Assessment Checklist as part of compliance to EN16005 and BS7036.
