Aluminium Doors Transom Closer Repairs and Replacements at Samuel Ward Academy in Haverhill, Suffolk
On our initial call out we found that the transom closers had failed and the doors was closing without control slamming into the frame. This was obviously a concern to the Head Teacher and pupils as there could be a risk of impact and crushing.
This required removal of the doors to allow us to inspect the transom closers, so we carried out a risk assessment and designated a safe working area. Once the doors were removed it was apparent that the closer seals had failed and had to be replaced. Also, the drive arms were worn, so these had to be replaced as well whilst the doors were removed.
We installed the new Axim Transom Closers, then refitted the door and checked the alignment with the seals and locks, adjusting where necessary. The door closers were tested for opening and closing, adjusting the closer for a smooth closing action.
Finally, we cleaned the aluminium door, glass and frame completing the repair and provided documentation as all of our work comes with a 12 months guarantee.

The common issues with aluminium doors are generally caused by lack of maintenance or the fact that certain locations have thousands of operations per day and the components have come to end of life and require replacing.
