Acoustic Movable Wall Removal – Abingdon School, Oxfordshire

Abingdon School in Abingdon, Oxfordshire contacted us as they are carrying out extensive building works within the school. As part of the works, they needed the existing movable wall removed to allow the erection of new walls.

We removed the panels and track carefully as you can see there is artwork upon each side of the panel faces which they wanted to reuse elsewhere within the school. We dismantled each panel and removed the face, which was going to be moved by other contractors.

We provided a fixed quotation to the school based on labour only and time as no parts were required.

FAQs

My movable wall panel has dropped, can you help?
Yes of course, this is very common problem as many systems are top hung with the panels on rollers which take the weight of the panel. It may be due to the roller assembly self-adjusting causing the panel to drop. This could be a simple realignment issue which generally we would carry out during a fixed cost call out or within a service contract agreement.

When I operate the key, the seals do not engage, can you help?
Yes of course, many issues with sealing of the panels are due to the panel alignment as there is not the correct distance for the seal to engage. This means that if this distance is too small then as you turn the key it will not throw easily and if you continue to operate the internal mechanism with break.

We recommend, that if a panel has become harder to operate, to request an engineer as soon as possible as to realign a panel is quicker, easier and less costly that repairing the internal mechanism.

If you are experiencing this call us now, we could possibly rectify this within our fixed call out rate.

It is difficult to move my panels on my movable wall, can you help?
Yes of course, as panels are held and moved by rollers along tracks, it is important that:

  • The track is secure,
  • The rollers are not worn
  • The tracks are clean and free of debris
  • All fixings are secure
  • All panels are correctly aligned with each other, the track and floor
  • All seals are fully retracted

Check your seals are retracted and the tracks are clean, if you still have a problem, call us now or request an engineer.
