Glass Door & DormaKaba Closer Repair – Edinburgh House, St Albans, Hertfordshire
Following a same day response emergency call out, we found that the door was not closing under control and securing the building. It was apparent that the Dorma closer was leaking and the glass fitting was badly worn to which we provided a quotation to replace all of the mechanical components so that the door was effectively as new. The customer accepted and we arranged a convenient day and time to suit.
Always when we work, we always carry out a risk assessment and deploy our yellow men barriers to designate a safe working area for us and the general public.
Where we deem that the risk is high, we would carry out any work at a more suitable time, such as when the building is closed. As this was a planned visit, we were able to close off the entrance as people could use the adjacent doors.
When the door was removed, we replaced the worn Dorma transom closer, glass patch fitting and pivot. The glass door was rehung aligning with the frame, tested access control system and operation and finally cleaned the glass door.
Common issues and problems for glass doors which need repairing are:
- Out of alignment causing glass to touch adjacent glass or frame
- Door handles loose
- Door not secured at the top
- Cover plates loose or missing
- Closing too fast
- Difficult to lock and having to lift it up to close
- Not closing or not opening fully
- Catching on the floor causing damage
- Access control or electronic lock not always engaging
Hertfordshire is one of the areas we cover including Oxfordshire, Suffolk, Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, allowing us to provide the level of service our customers require should they also have a problem with their glass doors.
