Design – Tall bronze clad doors (300kg) with concealed air powered operators to provide access into the library especially for disabled persons.


  • Doors difficult to open manually
  • Intermittent faults with mag locks locking building
  • Door were very slow to open when used automatically and not reaching 90 degrees
  • Insufficient opening for wheelchair access
  • Arms worn causing damage to covers


  • Remove both doors and replace pivots and top centres to raise doors to correct height
  • Realign doors
  • Replace compressor and leaking pump
  • Install new arms and covers
  • Set up system for correct operation
  • Put a service schedule in place to ensure continued safe operation
